Specialization

Our workplace focuses on the treatment of chronic pain of oncology and non oncology origin. Particularly serious cases are hospitalized in inpatient ward. Permanent interdisciplinary team (anaesthesiologists, psychiatrist, psychologist, neurologist and rehabilitation experts) is involved in care.

Treatment Procedures

Non-invasive and also invasive procedures are used for the treatment of chronic pain such as psychotherapy, psychological techniques, physical therapy, some procedures of alternative medicine and anaesthesiology techniques.

Education of Physicians and Medical Staff

The department participates in teaching pre graduate courses (within the Department of Rehabilitation UH Motol) and also in teaching post graduate courses (IPVZ). It has a close co-operation with the Department of Rehabilitation and other clinics of UH Motol.

Co-operation with Other Institutions

The department takes part in cooperation with the committee of the Association of Pain Research and Treatment. Together they are introducing new therapeutic and research procedures and publicize new field the “Pain Treatment and Palliative Medicine. Currently new top analgesic technique has been introduced – spinal neurostimulation (neuromodulation) in cooperation with the Department of Pain Treatment in Hospital Na Homolce. Physicians of the department have founded telephone information service (Line against pain) which provides information for patients afflicted with chronic pain.

Outpatient Department

There are three outpatient wards within the department. Making appointments is provided on telephone number 224 435 583 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The patient has to be referred for the examination by general practitioner or other attending physician. The examination of new patient takes approximately 60 minutes, regular examination takes less time.
