If you suffer from a non-emergency health problem that requires examination by general doctor (not specialist), please make an appointment in advance on the phone number 224 438 577 during the hours mentioned above or make an appointment to a general practitioner at the place of residence (e.g. at policlinic). In case you have an urgent health problem you can come whenever to Emergency Department, First Aid Service Department or specialized outpatient departments. Foreign outpatient Department does not substitute full care of general practicioner/family doctor. Newly since 01/09/2016 has been applied restrictions in Emergency Department. In case that your condition is not considered as acute (acute condtition means that life of the patient is not in danger of life) you will be asked to pay emergency fee 5 000 CZK. This fee applies only to foreign citizens outside the EU and is collected by employees of reception of Emergency Departments for Adults. It does not apply to EU citizens.
For operational reasons it is collected 68 CZK for verification of Czech insurance card validity in case of loss or stealing.
EU Directive on cross-board medical care now allows the patients to get the planned medical care in any medical center in European Union even without the agreement of the home insurance company (form S2). In this case the patient (insured person) pays the expenses for the medical care himself/herself and then asks the home insurance company for reimbursement. Insurance company pays back the expenses up to the price of the equivalent medical care in the home country. For example: medical care costs 1000 EUR in Germany, 1500 EUR in France and the patient is German who gets the medical care in France. He/she pays in France and then the German insurance company pays 1000 EUR back and the rest of the costs he/she pays himself/herself.
