Virtual reality helps in the treatment of brain tumors

PROZETA HELPS FN MOTOL IN THE TREATMENT OF BRAIN TUMORS

Prague, May 26, 2023 – The Czech technology company Prozeta has developed software using 3D virtual reality for medical and diagnostic use in close cooperation with the Faculty Hospital in Motola. This innovative software helps in choosing the right rehabilitation procedure before and after brain tumor surgery. Thanks to this, it is then possible to make therapeutic rehabilitation options for tumors of the vestibular apparatus of the brain more effective.

The use of virtual reality represents a new and very promising method that has great potential to expand treatment and rehabilitation options for patients suffering from cancer. On the software development project for Faculty Hospitals in Motola under the leadership of associate professor MUDr. Zdeňka Čady, Ph.D. The youngest development team of Prozeta, composed of Daniel Purš and Jakub Všetečka, worked from the Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of the UK and FN Motol.

In virtual reality, it is possible to simulate the natural perception of movement as perceived by the patient's brain. With the help of virtual reality, the patient is then exposed to appropriate scenes that imitate real situations as much as possible, thereby increasing the effect of postoperative rehabilitation. The patient is exposed to these 3D computer simulations even before the operation itself.

“We are excited to introduce this innovative 3D virtual reality software developed in collaboration with Prozeta. This technology represents a significant advance in the treatment of brain tumors that will allow us to improve rehabilitation practices and ultimately improve the overall care and outcomes of our patients.” says doc. MD Zdeněk Čada, Ph.D.

By having the results of this investigation available to the FN doctors in Motola even before the surgical procedure, they will be able to implement appropriate rehabilitation measures and precisely determine their indication criteria. The effect of this rehabilitation will be evaluated primarily using questionnaires, electrophysiological methods and clinical neuroontological examination.

"We are very happy with the completion of the software for FN in Motola. We are proud to have been able to collaborate with Motol Hospital to bring this innovative solution to life. Our goal is to provide physicians with a powerful tool that can improve treatment and rehabilitation options for brain tumor patients and ultimately positively impact their lives.” said Daniel Purš, head of development for Prozeta.
