Prague, June 15, 2023 – Motolské oncology center is the largest project of the medical part of the Czech National Recovery Plan financed by the EU. The total amount earmarked for this project is 4,5 billion crowns and it will be completed in March 2026. The winner of the tender for the construction of the modern complex was the company GEMO a.s.
The winning company GEMO as submitted an offer for the implementation of construction and engineering works in the amount of CZK 3 including VAT. The subject of the performance of the public contract is the reconstruction and completion of the building of the Motol Oncology Center using the Design and Build method, i.e. the execution of all project and engineering activities as well as construction works. The main goal of the Design and Build methodology is to reduce the risks associated with separate commissioning of design and construction, thereby achieving greater efficiency and better results.
"It is a very demanding project with a relatively short deadline for completion. In any case, it is a big challenge for FN Motol. Our advantage is that we already have extensive experience in the implementation of large investment projects. It was, for example, the reconstruction of the entire children's section and now the replacement of the insulation and windows of the adult section, which is also taking place in full operation." says JUDr. Ing. Miloslav Ludvík, MBA, director of the University Hospital in Motol.
The Motol Oncology Center will be closely linked to the existing hospital. All clinics that manage oncology patients, such as the Urology or Gynecology-Obstetrics Clinic and others, will cooperate with the center.
The modern building with cascading terraces and glass windows will follow the New Oncology pavilion, which was opened in 1997.
The project also includes the Scientific and Diagnostic Oncology Center, on which the foundation The Kellner Family Foundation provided a donation of 500 million crowns.
