Charity missions and programs
Since 1999 Children’s Heart Centre Motol takes part in humanitarien evacuations of people with health problems from war-affected regions - the MEDEVAC program - organized by the Czech Inetrior Ministry. Doctors from the Centre conducted so far 14 missions in such regions. So far 124 children have been treated, 103 in Motol and 21 right in their countries [Kosovo (31 children), Iraq (36), Pakistan (1), Afganistan (12), Kampuchea (8), Libya (7), Burma (3), Kenya (18), and Syria (8)].
The Mater Hospital Nairobi
For three consecutive years, doctors and nurses from the Children’s Heart Centre Motol have been helping with diagnostics and treatement of children with congenital heart defects in Kenya. So far, 37 children aged 1 to 10 years and 4 adults have been treated within this project. The long-lasting intention of the Mater Hospital in Nairobi has been to make heart surgery available even for the poorest patients in the country. All our experts waived their salaries to make the treatment possible.
