LSPP Department for Adults - Emergency

Dear patients,

If you are considering a visit to our emergency room (LSPP) for respiratory diseases (cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever), please note the following information:

  • By being in a medical facility, you are exposed to a possible infection.
  • During examinations, no examinations are performed that could not be performed safely during your GP's office hours.
  • Incapacity for work cannot be exposed on call.
  • It is very unlikely that you will be advised of anything other than symptoms that suppress over-the-counter medications, a resting home regimen, and a check-up by your GP after an emergency room examination.

Early examination by a doctor is only necessary in case of severe symptoms (fever lasting several days above 38 ° C, difficulty breathing - inability to say a sentence in one breath, in the case of severely chronically ill patients and patients over 65 years of age.

If you are not sure how to proceed or you do not have your registered general practitioner, you can consult your condition during the emergency hours on tel. 22 443 8590, information can also be obtained on the website of the Ministry of Health www.koronavirus.mzcr.cz.

In case of danger to life, call the Ambulance Service - emergency number 155.

Thank you for your understanding.

What is the purpose of the LSPP ambulance in particular?

- is intended for people with a sudden change in health status or a significant worsening of a long-term illness outside the usual operation of outpatient medical facilities

What the LSPP ambulance is not for?

- LSPP is not intended for routine examination or treatment procedures that can be requested during normal daily operation of medical facilities

- to prescribe long-term drugs

- for issuing documents of temporary incapacity for work ("incapacity")

- to consult non-acute problems due to unsatisfactory office hours of the registering general practitioner or in case of its temporary unavailability

- to assess the causes of long-term health problems or a closer examination of conditions associated with long-term pain

- to examine self-payers or persons with commercial health insurance, unless there is an acute problem

- LSPP does not provide a visiting service or serve to ensure the transport of patients for acute examination

- the patient is first identified - it is necessary to have an identity card or other proof of identity, a health insurance card and also a serial ticket assigned at the reception of the Emergency Income Department

- a quick assessment of the patient's state of health and his final treatment or transfer to further care at the relevant FN workplace, where further treatment is provided, follows. In the event of infectious diseases, basic anti-epidemic measures are also provided to the necessary extent.

- The main part of the examination is an interview (finding an anamnesis), which is followed by a basic physical examination focused on current problems. In most cases, these 2 steps are enough to determine the next step. Only in some cases are more detailed examinations performed.

- no examinations are carried out under the LSPP that can be safely postponed to normal working hours. Patients should not expect any more special examinations, especially for problems that last longer

- the result of the examination is a written report containing recommendations for further action, usually also a recommendation for an early follow-up visit by a general practitioner

- In the event of a serious acute deterioration in health and life-threatening conditions, or in the event of a rapid worsening of disease changes in the chronically ill or in conditions which, without the prompt provision of professional assistance, can cause permanent disease changes or death. The most serious conditions when it is necessary to call the emergency number 155 are especially the conditions of immediate danger to the life and health of the patient:

- acute disorders of consciousness to unconsciousness,

- sudden deterioration in the health of the chronically ill

- convulsions and new paralysis of one or more parts of the body

- obvious sudden respiratory distress and dyspnoea

- cardiovascular disorders with concomitant symptoms such as palpitations, chest pain, sudden changes in blood pressure

- more extensive burns, burns

- all special situations in which an acute threat to vital functions is not ruled out

- changes in behavior and behavior endangering the affected person or his surroundings

Flu

If you have a short-term fever, cough, joint and muscle pain, it is probably a flu or flu-related illness. Influenza is a highly contagious disease that is not treated with antibiotics, but with bed rest and supportive medications that you will be given enough advice at the pharmacy. Therefore, please carefully consider whether, if you have these problems, an emergency doctor's examination is really necessary, also in view of the fact that we will not expose your incapacity here. The fact that by staying in a medical facility you help spread the disease is not entirely negligible.

- Keep in mind that it is always better if you are examined by a doctor who knows your general health well. Therefore, if possible, try to solve the health problems first with the registering general practitioner. Health problems should be resolved in time and the problem should not be postponed until outside office hours or even at night and on weekends.

- if your GP is unavailable, he should have a replacement. In case of urgent acute problems, the substitute doctor is obliged to treat you.

- Patients should find a general practitioner in the place where they usually stay in time. If your GP is locally unavailable, try to find any GP during normal office hours in case of health problems. As part of the so-called irregular care, you can be treated by any general practitioner.

always find the LSPP workplace that is most accessible to you at a given time! The services provided at individual LSPP branches are similar.
