  • reducing the risk of infections and the spread of infections, creating local surveillance of nosocomial infections
  • ensuring hygienic and anti-epidemic requirements for medical operations according to specific conditions of individual workplaces and creating healthy working conditions and well-being for employees (monitoring of water quality, production and distribution of hospital food, microbiological air quality in epidemiologically important operations, cleaning and sanitation procedures and control of sterilization efficiency and disinfection procedures, laundry hygiene, transport and storage of hospital linen and laundry regime).

The department cooperates with the relevant public health protection authority and other state organizations with competence in the protection of public health (Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, Chief Hygienist, Hygienic Station of the City of Prague, Prague 5 Branch, SZÚ).

An indispensable part of the department's work is the continuous education of FNM employees in the medical and non-medical professions in the form of professional seminars, especially on current epidemiological and hygienic issues. Special emphasis is placed on the education of staff and the public in the field of hand hygiene and other anti-epidemic principles.

The Merck MAS-100 NT aeroscope is used to control the bacterial cleanliness of the environment of epidemiologically important clinical and laboratory workplaces.

Sampling is performed directly on the culture media, evaluation is qualitative and quantitative, individual bacterial strains and fungi that have been captured in the environment are determined.

Both devices comply with European standards and are certified.

Hand hygiene

Hand hygiene protects us from the development or transmission of infectious diseases at home, on the road and in the hospital.

Hands are washed (and disinfected) according to recommended procedures.

We use hand disinfectant where it is not possible to wash hands with soap and water; in a medical facility, we prefer hand disinfection to washing - it is faster, more efficient and accessible.

Disinfection is applied to dry hands.

Part of hand hygiene is always the final treatment with a protective cream.

Learn to wash or disinfect your hands regularly while in hospital.
