Department of Dentistry for Children and Adults, 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University and University Hospital Motol

Workplace focus:

  • complex dental issues in children and adults with a focus on
    child and adolescent care
  • treatment of handicapped patients under general anesthesia
  • maxillofacial surgery
    • birth defects and maxillary anomalies
    • facial injuries
    • tumors of the face and jaw
    • reanimation of the paretic face
    • cranial base surgery
  • implantology
  • prosthetics
  • periodontology
  • orthodontics
  • diseases of the jaw joint

Furthermore, the clinic participates in the oncological and hematological program, which includes not only the treatment of patients with tumors, but also the performance of reconstructive procedures for deformities arising after ablation surgeries and actinotherapy. Another group of patients are patients with congenital and developmental defects, who have disorders of the growth of the jaw and face. They are then treated mainly surgically or surgically orthodontically. Another priority of the clinic is patients with craniofacial malformations, where as the only workplace in the Czech Republic we operate these patients, mostly children. The clinic participates in the work of the Trauma Center, both in the treatment of pediatric and adult patients.

Traffic restrictions

Due to the complete reconstruction of the Children's Polyclinic in Motol and the relocation of our ambulances, we are approaching a partial reduction of operations from 1 June 2015 due to capacity reasons, which will concern the outpatient treatment of healthy pediatric and adolescent patients. Restrictions apply from 1.8.2015 and applies to healthy pediatric patients whose treatment falls within the competence of registering dentists. It is about:

  • making fillings
  • extraction of temporary and permanent teeth

Due to the reconstruction, it is necessary to count on an extension of order deadlines for patients with:

  • with a disability with the recommendation of their dentist and the relevant specialist (cardiologist, hematologist, pulmonologist, psychiatrist, etc.) with whom they are being monitored;
  • we will continue to treat and perform dentoalveolar and maxillofacial surgery.
