The clinic provides teaching for students of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the UK in the fields of general medicine and dentistry (Czech and English parallels), bachelor's studies in the fields of general nursing and midwifery and master's studies in the field of intensive care.

In addition to compulsory education, we provide internships for foreign students (Erasmus program and summer practice of the Prague Selective program), guarantors: MUDr. Jiří Pozniak, M.D. Jan Kolařík.

Students interested in surgery can come to our clinic even outside of compulsory education and participate in surgical procedures as an assistant in the operating rooms or help with the treatment of patients in the ambulance

We organize Surgical Suture Courses (Basic Surgical Suture Course and Intestinal Suture Course) for interested students from the 1st and 2nd Faculty of Arts of the UK. We use laparoscopic simulators during teaching.

Surgical anatomy and basics of operative approaches (guarantor MD Jan Pastor)

In 2021, in cooperation with the IRCAD Academy in Strasbourg, we became the creators of the online tutorial program for hernia surgery. The program is called Hernia Basecamp and can be found on the Websurg platform.
The program is mainly used for pre-attestation preparation before the European attestation in abdominal wall reconstruction, which was approved by the UEMS council in 2020.

During the semester, students get to know the work of all departments. clinics from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Lectures: will take place every week in Tuesday and Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. under the guidance of assistants according to the schedule in meeting room III. surgical clinics on the ground floor (corridor D – C) (opposite the ambulance).

Coats, slippers, stethoscopes - necessary!!!

Every day when you leave at 11:30 a.m., you will have your presence confirmed by the relevant assistant.  Every day at least 1 student will assist in the operating room.

On the first day of the internship, all students arrive at 8:30 a.m. at the Secretariat III. surgical clinic (FNM, building for adults, 1st floor, node D) for the attendance sheet (Mrs. Hlaváčková) and for the locker keys. 

When awarding credits on the last day of the placement, the study group leader submits to the secretariat a list of students who have received a credit for enrollment in the SIS. Before the credit, it is necessary to hand in the locker room key - 1st floor, node D, opposite the secretariat. Otherwise, the credit may not be awarded. Pthe expected date of the exam is one week after the end of the block.

Internships VI. year of general medicine (winter and summer semester 2023/2024)

September-October 2023 – medical internships of the 6th year III. surgical clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, UK and FNM

Internships VI. They are supposed to lead the year to training for independent work at the junior secondary level.

At the surgical clinics of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the University of Prague and the Faculty of Medicine in Prague, circles are interns according to the schedule of the dean's office.

The internship lasts a total of 7 weeks. Teaching at individual workplaces takes place for a total of 5 weeks, Monday-Thursday. Every Friday there will be a seminar in the auditorium of the 1st Surgery VFN. In the 6th week there are consultation hours - preparation for SZZk, in the 7th week there is SZZk at the XNUMXst surgical clinic of the VFN.

Students complete 3 weeks at one workplace (Motol, FTN, I.chir. VFN, Bulovka), 1 week at Bulovka children's surgery and 1 week at cardiac surgery/vascular surgery (II. chir. VFN) (see schedule of I. chir. clinic VFN - unofficial pages 1.LF UK).
There will be a maximum of 20 students at individual clinics.

Internships take place at III. surgical clinic, V Úvalu 84, Prague 5, Motol, 8(7): 10 a.m. – 13 p.m. daily, or longer depending on the assistance in the operating rooms.
Stages VI. They are supposed to lead the year in FNM to training for independent work at the junior secondary level. Students will be divided into departments, ambulances, halls, case study seminar (during the reconstruction of the FNM).

Distribution of students:

Morning visit
Work in individual groups 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the department under the leadership of assistants, docents, professors - department heads. and other doctors from the department. The essence is a visit to the patient, enrollment in the course, event. preparation of income and dismissal report. Students who will go to the case studies seminar should prepare their case studies during this time.

Morning report
Morning reporting takes place from 8:10 a.m., node C, 1st floor. The previous and next operating program, night service, x-ray visit are discussed.
Do not disturb the morning report (and also do not disturb with late arrivals!).

Operating rooms
from 8:30 am after reporting daily 4-6 students second assistance hall

  • hall no. 1, 2 and 3 is in corridor AD - so-called COS A
  • Hall No. 4 is opposite the central reception, in –P, so-called COS E2

Students will be scheduled for each day in the operating rooms on the attached sheet on the bulletin board.
Hall (Mon – Fri from 8:30 a.m.) according to the operational program, medics are included as a second aid. Students interning in the operating theaters follow the operating program, according to which they will verify in time the beginning of the operation for which they will eventually written out. Enrollment of a student in the operating group is binding. If, for serious reasons, the student is unable to attend the operating room, he/she will arrange a replacement for himself/herself in time. We ask students who have a virus or other infection not to go to the operating rooms.

Ambulance, special ambulance:

Seminar:
an optional case study seminar is planned from 9:15 a.m. in the library (opposite the AMB) - prof. MD P. Pafko, DrSc., 4-5 students.
I am asking you to prepare the students for the seminar (prepare a case history of the patient they examined in the morning).
Every Monday (except the introductory class) there is a lecture at the Spondylosurgery Clinic 9:00-11:45 a.m. (2nd floor, node C, ICU, library). Here they can arrange to participate in the halls of the Spondylosurgery Clinic (1-2 students).

Afternoon internship:

  • 11:30 - 16:00 second assistance hall (Hall No. 1, 2 and 3 are on corridor AD – so-called COS A, Hall 4 is on –P opposite the central reception, so-called COS E2). Students will be scheduled for each day in the operating rooms on the attached sheet on the bulletin board.
  • 15:00 pm big ICU visit (start -2C)

Coats, shoes, stethoscopes - NECESSARY !!! It is advisable to go to internships with your hair and nails done. Please do not take valuables with you.

Cloakroom: the key to the dressing room is at the ambulance III. surgical clinic and will only be issued upon presentation of a citizen's or other ID card. Locker keys are issued by the operator (1st floor, node D opposite the secretariat). Locker room No. 3 is located in communication node E – ( – 2). Often, students deal with changing clothes by carrying a cloak in their backpack.

Each student has it confirmed with the signature of the teacher. internship assistant attendance on departure at 13:00 every day of the internship in the attendance sheet!!!
To be credited, a confirmation from the duty manager about participation in the night shift, attendance sheet + return of the cloakroom key is required.
