Our scientists
The scientific and research activity of our laboratory center is of paramount importance in the professional care of our patients.
Laboratory work of our department includes mainly
- determination of diagnosis of leukaemia and some types of tumors at the molecular-biological level
- evaluation of tumor cell characteristics and subsequent inclusion of the patient in the appropriate treatment regimen eg. Neuroblastoma, Ewing sarcoma and some types of brain tumors
- continuous monitoring of the treatment response depending on changes of tumor cells in the patient in acute treatment
- evaluation of prognostic signs of disease important for its further development
- long-term follow-up of patients after successful treatment of acute leukemia with the aim of early capture of relapse
- research in the field of paediatric leukaemias and tumors in order to improve the diagnostics and treatment in paediatric haematooncology
Laboratory center
The laboratories of our department are dedicated to specialized diagnostics of pediatric leukemias (Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Flow Cytometry) and diagnostics of certain malignant tumors at the molecular genetic level (Laboratory of Solid Tumor Biology).
Our Laboratory center cooperates with other European centers of pediatric hematology and oncology.
The results of our research are regularly published in the domestic and foreign professional press.
