Pediatric hematooncology in the Czech Republic today

In the Czech Republic, there are eight specialized workplaces for the care of children with cancer.

Children with a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia are treated in our country in Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Pilsen, Ostrava, Hradec Králové, České Budějovice and Ústí nad Labem.

Our Motol Clinic and the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the University Hospital Brno take care of pediatric patients with cancer.

Concentration of oncological treatment in specialized centers (so-called centralization of treatment) guarantees patients access to experienced professionals. The health professionals of these workplaces are fully acquainted not only with the standard course of oncological therapy of individual diagnoses, but also with all the complications that can accompany tumor treatment.

Comprehensive pediatric and oncological care for sick children is enabled by the mutual cooperation of individual centers and their close connection with specialized laboratory and research workplaces within the Working Group of Pediatric Hematology (PSD).

Pediatric Hematology Working Group (PSDH) unified oncological treatment in childhood in connection with global trends in the field of pediatric hematooncology and improved the care of pediatric patients in the Czech Republic to the level of European standards.
