First day of admission to our clinic

You can't believe they sent you to oncology with your child. You can't believe that your child has a suspicion of cancer, leukemia, in short, oncological diagnosis. You don't understand. You are unable to speak. You don't know what to tell your relatives. You don't know who to turn to. You don't know what to ask. You have no idea what will happen.

If the diagnosis of cancer is confirmed, your child becomes a patient in our workplace. He is facing cancer treatment accompanied by a number of complications. The coming time will be very difficult for your whole family. With this text we bring you practical information that will help you better orient yourself on the first day at our clinic.

Work incompetence your doctor will confirm. Come to Independent Department of Fee Processing Methodology, which is located in the atrium of the Motol University Headquarters (ground floor), next to Komerční banka. Employees of this department (tel. 22443 9007) will issue you a certificate of incapacity for work here.

Find out who your child's doctor is. The department will keep you in touch with a number of doctors and paramedics throughout the day and in the services. The attending physician is the one who coordinates the treatment of your child, who recommends the treatment procedure in cooperation with colleagues and doctors in other fields. The attending physician is the one who accompanies your child with the treatment. Questions and ambiguities regarding the care of your child should be addressed primarily with the attending physician.

Contact a social worker, Mgr. Alice Pick. If your child's oncology diagnosis is confirmed, seek social support. Mrs. Mgr. Picková will introduce you to a number of options for better coping with the difficult socio-economic situation of your family.

Contact a game therapist at our clinic, Marián Pavlíček. Marián will set up an internet connection for you via Wi-Fi, which is available to each department. If your child does not own a laptop, they can borrow it from Marián. The game therapist also offers several dozen DVD and PC games for rent.
