When did you decide to become a nurse and who or what made you decide to become a nurse?
Sometime in the second grade of elementary school, I wanted to take care of children and I didn't want to be a teacher.

Do you remember your first working day at FNM?
On the first day, I wandered terribly on the way to the laundry warehouse. I was afraid to go to the cafeteria for lunch for another month.

Kateřina KleinhamplováYou work at the Children's Cardiocenter of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of the UK and Motol Medical Center. What brought you to this field?
I worked in several fields of healthcare: ARO, dialysis. After maternity leave, I was looking for work on morning shifts, I was free for adult catheterization. From there it is only a short distance to the children's catheterization room, and I would never change! Children's cardio and the issue of congenital heart defects is so complex that one is definitely not bored here. In addition, I am very lucky to have great people with whom I have the honor to work.

Kateřina KleinhamplováWhat is your typical working day like at the Children's Cardiocentre?
I start the morning with errands in the ward and echo examination rooms. The rest of the day I try to contribute to the smooth running of the catheterization program, which includes activities from assisting with procedures, circulating around the room, synchronizing team members, arranging repairs, forever sourcing materials to all possible administrative activities.

Kateřina KleinhamplováWhat qualities and prerequisites do you think a person who decides to work in the healthcare sector should have?
Healthcare is an amazingly broad field. Everyone can find an industry that suits them. It's probably good to be empathetic, hardworking, inquisitive, but in what field is that not necessary?

Do you remember any patient who pleased or amused you the most?
In the hall, children are only awake for a short time. We all try to ensure that our patients have a peaceful and comfortable sleep without fear. And most children are very cute and sweet in premed.

Kateřina KleinhamplováHow do you relax, what do you think is the best rest? When was the last time you laughed heartily?
The best relaxation – ACORD MOTOL CHOIR. Sometimes I go to the exam so tired that I don't want to do anything at all, and there I am among people who really understand and are quite similar. And suddenly we laugh, we learn new songs, and even if we sometimes don't do well, we take it with humor. We like to see each other and we don't care if someone is a doctor, a nurse, an engineer or an administrator. I leave home charged with new energy, which I can only recommend to everyone. We meet every Tuesday at 16 p.m. in the cinema hall of the FN Motol directorate.
I cordially invite all employees: come and watch and sing.

What was your biggest childhood dream?
Fly to the universe.

Do you have a guaranteed recipe for stress management?
When the work team functions well, the individual also copes better with stressful situations. And it really applies to us!

Is there anyone who is life inspiration for you?
Definitely Jara Cimrman.
