Press statement: The course of hospitalization of former president Miloš Zeman

20. 3. 2024 - Mr. Miloš Zeman is in a stable condition and conscious, he is starting rehabilitation, he completed a short walk training with the support of a walker. After the partial subsidence of the swelling, one of the two fasciotomies was successfully closed, the remaining one is being treated intensively. He is still hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Laboratory results have an improving tendency, however, the condition is still assessed as serious. The length of hospitalization cannot yet be predicted, but if the established trend continues, we plan to transfer to the Internal Medicine Clinic at the end of this week.
18. 3. 2024 - Mr. Miloš Zeman remains under the care of the Motol General Hospital doctors after an operation for critical hypoperfusion of the lower extremity. After the blood clot was removed and an angioplasty of the arteries was performed, blood flow was restored and the so-called reperfusion syndrome developed, which is manifested by swelling of the limb. This condition was solved with fasciotomies as part of the first operation. This involves cutting the muscle covers, leaving the incisions until the swelling subsides. These incisions must be treated carefully and regularly before they can be closed again. Mr. Miloš Zeman is conscious, oriented, and cooperating with the initiation of rehabilitation. Due to the above-mentioned current course, the length of hospitalization cannot be predicted.
15. 3. 2024 - Mr. Miloš Zeman is hospitalized after the operation he underwent yesterday at the Motol General Hospital. The reason for the operation was a critical lack of blood flow to the lower limb caused by a blood clot, he underwent a hybrid procedure with artery bypass and restoration of blood supply. Mr. Miloš Zeman remains hospitalized, he is in a stable but serious condition. The prognosis for the length of hospitalization cannot be determined at this time.
